trashmouthgently:

HEY INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS

Gently (and trust me, I’m being gently) reminde that in italy some things are not a issue like in anglophone country

So, the n-word isn’t really THE N WORD, is just a word in a song

So I hope you won’t take this as a reason to shit on a beautiful angel like Niccolò.

(also, no one in italy uses the italian equivalent of the n-word, so yes we’re not racist, just not so much anglophile)

Thank you for your understanding

  2. itachi-with-a-chicken said: @wisdomloyalty it was about a very specific situation. Let me explain: over all, I agree with you. I don’t use the word even tho I know it because is a big no no. But I also recognize that in Italy the people who actually know all the meaning behind that world are just a few, for many is just another way to say black and mate at the same time, and in this particular case I don’t think either the character or the actor (or the production) wanted to disrespect anyone.
  3. itachi-with-a-chicken said: @wisdomloyalty in what way, please
  4. convolutings said: If they use it in the Skam Austin that would be a problem because that is American culture and well known in American culture not to use the N-word. This is about Italy and if it’s not the same way then educate yourself to watch and enjoy another country’s culture

  11. juls-angel said: I know it shouldn’t have been used, they could have edit it, you’re right. but criticising a whole show/character, about a different culture and place and people, only according to YOUR view is nonsense.
  12. lepinja said: Not everything revolves around usa. N- is what we call our closest friends. And let me ask… Lets say if word ‘Love 'in french meant rape, does that mean that english people shouldn’t say love just because there might be some french people watching? no. You are watching a show from ITALY. About ITALIAN SOCIETY. ITALIAN LANGUAGE. ITALIAN CULTURE.
  13. juls-angel said: I know that for you is difficult to understand, but if I didn’t decide to involve myself in the anglophone culture and learn more about the black community and the lgbt community I wouldn’t know that the n-word is a derogatory term, I would know it just as a word used in a song. That’s all. That’s pure Italian ignorance. Also, we don’t associate the n-word with our correspondent Italian and derogatory word (the one that it’s used in the stadium)It’s not the same thing.
